Our team
HJ Impact combines sociological rigor, evaluation experience, and clear communication.
Co-Founder & Principal Sociologist
A sociologist, researcher, and educator with more than two decades of experience in academia and applied research.
Dr. Orlee Hauser is a sociologist, researcher and educator. Drawing on more than two decades of experience in academia and applied research, she helps organizations measure outcomes, understand social change, and make evidence-based decisions.
Dr. Hauser earned her Ph.D. in Sociology from McGill University in 2005. She began her academic career as a tenured professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh, and later joined Yeshiva University as a full-time professor, where she has continued to teach sociology while mentoring students and advancing research on contemporary social issues.
She has conducted extensive research on women serving in the Israel Defense Forces, the experiences of motherhood and fatherhood, and the social dynamics of refugee resettlement. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed academic journals and has contributed to broader conversations about family life, military service, migration, and social integration.
Recognizing the growing need for rigorous evaluation beyond academia, Hauser founded HJ Impact together with her colleague Ken Jackson to bring sociological theory and research methodology to the nonprofit, educational, and public sectors. Through HJ Impact, she partners with organizations to design and implement impact assessments, program evaluations, and research studies that translate data into actionable insights. Her work combines academic rigor with practical application, enabling organizations to demonstrate effectiveness, strengthen programming, and maximize their social impact.
